After the summer break, the Enduro Italian Championship and the World
Championship are back to action at the beginning of September for the last test of
the national competition assigning the Overall Title and, on the following weekend,
the World Championship of E2 class at GP of France.
Two really awaited meetings, full of “pathos” for HM-Honda Zanardo Team and
Alex Salvini, because the destiny of this very intense season 2013 will be set in
six days only.
This will start off on September, 1st in Cassano Magnago (VA) with the last test of
Italian Championship (seventh seasonal race).
After the victory of the E2 national cup in July, Alex Salvini aims at getting a
success again and taking the Overall Title of Super Champion to HM-Honda
Zanardo Team. In this parade, the rider from Bologna is leading with 108 points
against 90 points of Thomas Oldrati, the only rider theoretically still fighting for
victory. Two only points are mathematically enough for Salvini to graduate as the
champion in this national class too.
It would be certainly about a “record” event, because no Italian rider ever
managed to win both the Championship in his own class and the Overall, since
2006, the year when FMI decided to assign the Overall Title of Super Champion,
too.
The eve of the race in Cassano Magnago will be the chance for Alex Salvini and
Simone Albergoni to wear the Blue National T-Shirt for the Italian team pictures of
World Trophy. In fact the two riders of HM-Honda Zanardo Team have been called
to belong to the Italian team taking part in the next Six Days Competition in
Sardinia, planned from September 30th to October 5th in Olbia.
More, in Cassano Magnago, a special prologue has been scheduled on Saturday
evening by the promoters to meet the numberless demands of some thousand
fans and spectators longing for seeing the best protagonists of national enduro
and world championship in action.
Few days after the last Italian Championship test, to Saint Flour, in France, will
take place the last GP of World Championship too. E2 World Championship Cup
will be assigned in this seventh crucial round.
In this decisive last match point of World Championship, Salvini aims at getting a
historical extraordinary triple cup, so that the HM-Honda Zanardo Team rider could
give a world cup to Italy again, after thirteen years fast since the last Italian victory
in world championship, which occurred in 2000 thanks to Mario Rinaldi (400 4T)
and Matteo Rubin (250 4T).
Pierre Renet is the only adversary who can still mathematically threaten Salvini,
who benefits from 33 points advantage. The ninth position would be enough for
Salvini to graduate as the Champion of the World.
HM-Honda Zanardo Team will deploy in Cassano Magnago and France the twentyone-year old former cross rider from Trieste Alessandro Battig, together with Salvini
and Albergoni. Battig actually disputed two Italian Absolute races with HM-Honda
CRE F250R this year and, thanks to his excellent results, will dispute the next Six
Days with the Italian Team, wearing the Blue T-Shirt in the class for Clubs.
At the Italian Championship we’re going to see the English San Sunderland too, the
twenty-four-year old HRC official rider of Rally Team directed by Martino Bianchi,
who will take part in the race on a CRE F450R bike of HM-Honda Zanardo Team.
ALEX SALVINI #9
“I’m facing the final part of the season thoughtless and conscious of having done an
exceptional season, which proves the excellent preparation work and feeling with
the bike and the team. The objective is certainly to write my name in the gold book,
and I’m self-confident and motivated to reach for these prestigious results. On the
occasion of Cross World Championship in Czech Republic I was at the race with
Franco Mayr and met Europe Honda leaders and attended the presentation of the
new off road patterns 2014, whose high performance level of all technical details I
had the chance to verify. I’m happy to belong to the Italian national team who will
dispute the Six Days Competition in Sardinia in the World Trophy class, where I’ll
do my best to bring this victory to Italy. And I thank all HM-Honda Zanardo Team,
Franco Mayr, Alessandro Tramelli, Tullio Pellegrinelli, my personal mechanic Toni
Specia and the technician Luca Pidutti”.
SIMONE ALBERGONI #50
“I spent this month working on my physical preparation and toughly training myself
on my bike. My aim is to improve the last results that are not satisfactory. I chose
other technical solutions for the bike to make a good show in this final of season.
I’m proud to belong to the National Team at six Days Competition, where I’ll kick in
to aim at victory”.
ALESSANDRO BATTIG #114
“I carried on my enduro preparation all summer long and even though it is not
easy yet, I’m focusing on the final part of the season, I hope all this will give the
right satisfaction to me and my team. I can’t deny how special is to run the Italian
Competition and the World Championship in France. Then we’ll have the Six
Days, where I’ve been called to wear the Blue T-Shirt in the team of the Clubs of
Italy. A really nice surprise and a great satisfaction for me and HM-Honda
Zanardo Team, with which I’ll dispute the next season”.
FRANCO MAYR
“The first week of September will be very engaging and rich in tension, not much
from the working point of view, but because we’re going to dispute three races in
seven days. All this will happen in a climate of psychological pressure: in fact all
eyes will point to Salvini and to all our team. We are aware that we went to any
length to prepare ourselves at our best for these two agonistic meetings. Our
riders are very motivated. Europe Honda expressed all its support, and the same
did HM-Moto and Mr. Alfredo Ciresa. All our sponsors and the technical partners
are very close to us. Our technicians worked unceasingly during all the month of
August to avoid neglecting the least detail. We’ve been doing an excellent work
this year and thanks to Salvini we are all proving this to everybody: through our
bike he managed to make the difference and gave incredible satisfactions to the
team and to all our partners!”.
