Seconda prova WEC due Podi per Albergoni!!!

Date : 02/04/2012

More Podiums For HM Honda Zanardo Rider Simone Albergoni At Enduro World Championship Round Two In Argentina

HM Honda Zanardo’s Simone Albergoni enjoyed a strong outing over the weekend with a great performance to finish third and second over the course of the two days for round two of the E1 Enduro World Championship in Argentina.

Following the success of the team just one week ago in Chile, this event marks the end of the team’s foreign experience in South America, with Albergoni continuing his strong form to end up second in the overall standings.

During Saturday’s race at the San Juan course, Albergoni raced an amazing test, in which he fought strongly against Remes, Santolino, Seistola, Bourgeois and his teammate Rodrig Thain.
Despite his best efforts, Albergoni just missed out on second place, but unfortunately he lost a few seconds in the times with a fall during the second special cross test.

With Albergoni running well, and then taking another strong result with second place on the Sunday of the event for the HM Honda Zanardo Team, who provided him with competitive machinery in the super-Honda HM CRE F250R, the Italian rider concluded the weekend with second place in the championship series. Teammate Rodrig Thain was unable to go achieve more than a sixth and fifth place following his strong performance in Chile, although he still holds third place in the overall standings.

In the EJ class the Swedish racer Karl Svensson came back home with an eight and a seventh place, despite racing through the pain with a bruised left foot.

Simone Albergoni
“I'm satisfied with my two podiums. I have to admit that (Antoine) Meo is on another planet, but I can race well with all the other protagonists of E1. However, I will work even harder to improve my riding and be more aggressive from the first special test. I feel really good with the bike and the team. It’s a pity that here in Argentina I’ve not been able to interpret the test cross in the right way, but I'm happy with my times in the line and in the extreme tests. I could also have finished closer to Meo on Saturday if I had not fallen during the third cross and the first line test”.

Rodrig Thain
“I could not repeat the good race result of Chile and I can not understand why. The problem is that I never managed to stand out to get the times that I wanted to get. I want to apologise with the team because everyone is working really hard, but I shall redeem myself by continuing to work for the next round.”

Franco Mayr - HM Honda Zanardo Team Manager
“Albergoni gave us two days filled with emotion: he was able to approach this Grand Prix of Argentina in the best way. He only has to improve in some detail and believe more in his capabilities. He must be convinced that no one is unbeatable and that Meo can be beaten. Thain has not been able to repeat the glorious race of Chile, however we go back home with the great satisfaction to have our two riders in second and third places in the E1 standings”.
